Our customers are important!

For over 36 years we've strived to have the best service and food in Southern Illinois. We use only the highest quality ingredients; hand-selected steaks and produce, Wisconsin cheese, and sauces and dressngs made fresh daily. Great healthy choices can be found throughout the menu. Our staff is knowledgeable and invites you to come in, be our guest and have fun.

Thanks to our great customers, we have continued to provide good food and good times since 1977.

History of Walts

Walt Jr SrFirst called Joe’s Pizza, Walts has evolved much over time since it was purchased from Joe Tondini in 1977.  Walt created a new dough recipe and changed the name of the restaurant to Walts.  The original booths that were handmade by Walt are still in use today.  Over time, more original Italian dishes were added to the menu and the size of the restaurant expanded.

Walts has withstood multiple natural disasters, including several floods and a fire.  The final, and most serious flooding occured in 1996 due to the cities former drainage issue.  A construction related fire caused major damage to the building in January of 2010.  Although the fire was devastating, it allowed Walt to do additional remodeling that gave the restaurant its largest expansion. Thanks to the expansion, the dining room is larger and pick up and delivery is even faster and easier.

Today, Walt's son Walter Nieds, III is the General Manager.  Walter started working in the restaurant at the age of twelve bussing tables.  After more than 36 years in business, and with the continued support of our customers, Walts has now sold over two million pizzas! Be sure to check out Our Menu for a wide variety of entrees from the grill, pastas, salads and sandwiches. At Walts, we are more than great pizza!

Visit Walts after work to unwind and enjoy a cocktail on our spacious patio. (Patio is for patrons 21 & up only Monday - Saturday). Kids eat free every Monday and we offer great deals on Family Night Sunday. Be sure to check out our daily drink and pizza specials, and our new $5 Lunch!
